Don't go forgettin' to use the Amazon links on the front page of Medusa. Make The Janitor rich and happy. Or, failing that, solvent.

=--=
The Janitor has touched the URLs so that using them automagically makes The Janitor reasonably pleased and less on-a-budget.

Is it my imagination or do these look like the original non-remastered, non-extras disks?

Unless we're having a shared dream, that is indeed what they appear to be.
Intrigued by the order that Messrs Rhino seem to have numbered 1-5 what one might've expected would be 5, 3, 4, 1, 2.

If the track listings are to be believed, they are new pressings with the original vinyl track listings, as intended. That is to say, Rum does not have "Paddy Garcia" on it and Fall From Grace is unimpeded by "South Australia" and "Battle March" - great tracks, but it always made me crazy how wrongly programmed they were into the running order on the 1988 CD.

Interesting. So there's a real chance that these are the remastered tracks. A bargain at twice the price!

Honest question, no sarcasm intended:

If I had all the original CDs, then purchased the remastered editions with expanded tracks, then purchased the first box set, why should I purchase this new box set? In other words, is this more for a casual fan who might have one CD and can now purchase 5 at a reasonable price?

Yes, I can think of no real reason why you should buy this box set unless you feel you have a moral obligation to fund my theatregoing.

Millions of people have never ever bought a Pogues CD. I guess the thinking up at Rhino Towers is let's not be found wanting in our provision of opportunities for those millions to remedy the oversight.

I had no plans to by this at all but now youve mentioned funding your theater going I may give it a go ha ha. Do you still go and watch Forrest as I may have to draw the line funding that????? :D

Well, yes, though it's some time since I've actually had to pay in to see the Forest, so your conscience can rest easy there! :)

It had me scratching my head for a while but there's nothing intriguing about the order when you work it out, it's good old fashioned alphabetical order:

Hell's Ditch
If I should Fall from Grace
Peace and Love
Red Roses for Me
Rum Sodomy and the Lash

An absolute bargain if I didn't already have all of these on vinyl & CD.

Blimey, you're right. And there was me thinking it was just the Rhino Bros being weird.
I'm a bit torn by this set, to be honest. I've got the vinyl. I've got the remastered CDs. I can shuffle the tracks about to reproduce the original vinyl digitally if I want to. And yet the obsessive in me wants this set. Give me an excuse. Does anyone know what the artwork's like?

I can't offer an excuse, but I will say I sympathize as I am presently in the middle of the Horslips catalogue for the umpteenth time - original Irish vinyl, original US and European vinyl, original cassettes and 8 tracks, vinyl reissues, first CDs (Outlet - shite), second CDs (Edsel - yay!), third and fourth CDs - US releases and Japanese LP facsimiles, and now fifth CDs - Irish vinyl facsimiles with extra tracks. All have their quirks and oddities and unique features but most are strictly speaking superfluous once you have one vinyl original and one decent CD of each.

Horslips made, not counting numerous anthologies and their comeback album Roll Back, nine studio albums, two live albums and a bits-and-pieces non-album singles collection.

The term "completist" comes to mind.
