The Pogues - Live at the Town and Country

Post Fri Jan 07, 2005 8:13 pm

I wasn't really sure where to make that subject so I make it here. Anyone has seen the live performance movie The Pogues - Live at the Town and Country? I just saw it and it was really great! Shane was incredibly drunk that night I think, but suprisingly enough, he was still able to sing (mumble would be a better word I guess) and play banjo. Me, if I were wasted that much, I don't think I could do anything. Kirsty MacColl was there too, and she was in great shape. If you can find it over the internet, well, just download it, you won't regret it.

It's also released on DVD together with the Completely Pogued documentary. Well worth getting.

I'm not sure Shane actually was as plastered as he seems. He performed like that all the time but much of it could have been a stage act. At least he remembers the words and participates in the stage activity rather than just leaning on the mic stand with a montonous slur for two hours.

It's £ 12.99 and no shipping costs!
I'm still waiting for the one I ordered. Probably something has gone wrong in the mail, so they posted me another one yesterday, nice service!

Hm, it has a duration of 1 hour 54 minutes, while the original tape (with the same tracklist) is about one hour. So I'm pretty sure it's on it.

This cover is different from the one at Play.com, but I suppose it's the same DVD.

apparently, the DVD was released without the Pogues Permission - I've got the DVD, and I think its great, but the Pogues werent asked if it could be released and I'd be surprised if they got any money from it!

And Shane IS a beauty...
It was on the 23rd of June
As I lay blasted in my room
A small bird sang on an ivy branch
And the song they sang was the "Jug of Punch"

Great DVD!

When was this gig?

I can see from the set that it propably was somewhere in between IISFFGWG and Peace & Love...
