That's the French CD. There is (apparently) a UK version featuring Fiesta (remix), one of the versions of Sketches of Spain, and South Australia. Extremely hard to track down, however.

Mmm? I've never heard of the UK release before and I got everything that was ever released as it was released.

And I don't know anyone who does have it.

You mean this one: https://www.musicstack.com/album/pogues/fiesta ?

But Ciderman has never heard of it, so there's that too.

Reading this, DzM, it looks like Ciderman meant to say " I've never heard of the UK [CD] release]" (your link points to vinyl). I can find no evidence that it has existed on CD, so i think he's right 'cause that makes it rare indeed! The French seem to be the only ones got Fiesta on CD, (like Canadians were the only ones got Poguetry on CD) and they got live Barrowlands tracks not Sketches / S. Australia.

But yes, the standard 12" - in all territories except France - would appear to have Fiesta / Sketches of Spain / South Australia.

The IISFGWG re-issue has a 2.14 long version of "Sketches"
The box set a 3.55 long version of "Fiesta", identified as the 7" mix (album version is 4:13)
The images of the 12" I've looked at don't list times, anybody who has it are you able to enlighten us with track lengths?

Just curious as sometimes these rumoured different versions turn out not to exist. But of course, with The Pogues, sometimes different versions exist and aren't identified. They like to keep us guessing.

The Fiesta 7" and 12" feature the same 3:55 mix.
The 7" version of Sketches of Spain is the 2.14 version that was on the CD reissue of Fall From Grace.
The 12" version of Sketches of Spain is a 3.35 version.

It may be that there never was a UK CD version of Fiesta. I bought the 7" at the time as I had South Australia on the Fall From Grace CD, and didn't realise then that the 12" featured a long version of Sketches (or I'd have bought that too). When I later tracked down CD versions of the Pogues singles I never managed to get hold of Fiesta, but assumed that was due to rarity rather than it not existing. The discography on this site lists a UK CD, but maybe that's a mistake? I could have sworn I saw copies back in 88, but you're talking 32 years ago, which may be too far for my memory!

Found this edition here: https://www.discogs.com/release/4850760
Although i don't see any for sale with bag of streamers, however you DO get a band history written in French, so...

Nice of them to give the b-side as much re-mix attention as the A-side :D

Well i did jump down this rabbit hole a bit this morning, so i can speak with the great authority of somebody who has spent several minutes, a quarter hour at least, researching this, :D and i have found no trace of it existing. That said, as you point out, the discography here lists it, with a cat no., so it's possible it's out there, somewhere.

It actually seems more likely than not, as all other IISFFGWG singles were released on CD in the UK (except "Thousands..." but that was only a promo release).

It is very likely that it does not actually exist and that the listing on Medusa's discography is due to a bad assumption on my part 25 years ago. As you note, the other singles from the same era follow a standard catalog number format and had a standard grab-bag of formats. It is likely that I made what seemed a reasonable assumption based on my having the 7" or 12" or something that somewhere in the world was the CD5 with a catalog number in keeping with the other singles.

Hard to say. That was a long, long time ago.

CVS log history starts after that section of the discography was created. Sept of 1999 evidently.

At any rate, you can see from the most recent checkin that the UK CD5 is now removed.

All of that said, if there wasn't a UK CD single of Fiesta, it does beg the question as to why not? From Fairytale onwards every single was released on CD - why would Fiesta be the only one not to be?

I have been watching ebay almost daily since 2004 or around then and have never seen a UK cd single for sale. I have never heard of anyone having it or seen a picture of it.
So my guess is that it never existed. I got most of the rare stuff that were released. But when it comes to Stiff new stuff shows up now and then like the Red Roses For Me LP with a Boys From The County Hell sticker.

There never was one released on CD in the UK. France only.

Same as Sayonara CDS (No UK release)
