I'll be buying the Poguetry, since I don't have it on vinyl and it is kind of hard to find for a reasonable price, and one always has to worry about it's condition when you buy it used. But I don't know where the other 4,499 buyers are going to come from. But I fully recognize that is not my problem ... my problem was only that I didn't have all the records I wanted to have, and now that problem will be adequately solved at least for that record. And if enough other people are in the same situation as me then whatever lack of funds the Pogues and the brothers Warner are experiencing might be assuaged as well. And I guess I don't mind that.

There are lots of products out there in the world that I have no intention of buying. But people still offer them and it doesn't upset me in the slightest.

Fair point well made. Don't agree though. It's great to have a bit of banter again here on the raft.

Aye! It's been a fucking sad ride since Phil is gone...

Absofuckinlutely. Don't think any of us have been up for much banter since his sad passing. Fuck it though, that's not how Phil would want the Raft to be! Let's keep the Medusan spirit alive in his memory, take the piss, argue the toss, and raise many a glass in the process!

Erm....I own three turntables. Technics decks, one in my lounge and one in my loft, that see action pretty much every day and one ion usb thing that I use for backing up vinyl. I buy vinyl all the time...about 120 45's so far this year - a combination of new releases and old, long sought after stuff. Digital music is crap in comparison. I have all the Pogues albums from first time round but will buy RRFM and P&L for the new mixes, even though I bought the 30 year CD's and these are pricey at £18 each. I might even buy the Poguetry just for the hell of it as my original is very well played. If I am being exploited, I don't care

My Poguetry vinyl has had a scratch on the B side since the day it was bought (the day of its first release). It makes Planxty Noel Hill go a bit funny. I didn't know what the track was meant to sound like for years. So there's a thought, I suppose...

Oh... I don't know. Remastered on vinyl? That's new?!? no? I mean vinyl is the one area where record sales are growing because people have a nostalgia for it. Plus, i hear there are people who prefer the sound, I suppose if you have a $20000 system :). I don't think this is as shameless as the 30 years set. But, really it's about the music. That's why we're on this site. WE love the pogues. Don't like it, don't buy it. With that being said - a new album is long overdue. I'm hoping they are going to steal a page from the pixies here - back to Wales for a new record. It's possible to work yourself up thinking of what we're missing out on. It's like wishing for Nirvana's 4th album... with the obvious exceptions.

Interesting stuff. I'm not a vinyl geek or a technophile, but I do lament the growth of downloading and streaming. I agree with the well-rehearsed arguments about vinyl quality and the Loudness Wars, but I also think a well mastered CD sounds pretty bloody good. I think a lot of the issues around sound are more to do with the system you are playing any particular format on rather than the format itself to be honest. Back in the day I had all the Pogues albums on original pressing vinyl (which often jumped!), but I maintain that the best sounding versions of them to my ears are the Nick Robbins remastered CDs from 2004. In fact I think they're just about the best mastered CDs I've heard. Tracks that are downloaded (apart from FLAC) or streamed, on the other hand, I've come to realise sound shite and disposable.

My point about these specific releases was that they are yet another re-release and I'm a bit sick of them, really. It wasn't about the medium, it was about the repetition.

I don't know the details. In broad strokes I understand that The Brothers Warner and The Brother Amazon are having some paperwork issues.
