Vinyl Releases, 2014

Post Fri Jul 04, 2014 6:34 pm

The Brothers Warner have let it be known that their pet Rhino will:

· Be releasing the first 5 studio albums and the Poguetry in Motion EP
· All pressed on heavyweight 180g Vinyl (except the EP).
· Red Roses and Peace and Love will use the 2013 remixes featured in the boxset.
· All other audio will be the 2004 remasters.
· The EP will also be a coloured vinyl – most likely a matt red.

Further, the red Poguetry will be a limited edition, ~4500 worldwide.
“I know all those people that were in the film [...] But that’s when they were young and strong and full of life, you know?”

Good idea. Maybe they could cover some of Philip's songs (other than the ones already done) as a tribute.

I got a slagging on here for saying the 30 Years box set was over-priced shite, a sentiment I stand by 100%. This is even more shiter. I've loved the Pogues for more than 27 years, but this is just about making money. And I know it's more likely to be Warners than the band that are to blame, but it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth...

Okay, I am old enough to have had a record player, but are there 4500 people left in the world who
Have them, let alone Pogues fans?? Considering most longtime fans have multiple versions of these, will
They even sell 45?

I'll be buying the Poguetry, since I don't have it on vinyl and it is kind of hard to find for a reasonable price, and one always has to worry about it's condition when you buy it used. But I don't know where the other 4,499 buyers are going to come from. But I fully recognize that is not my problem ... my problem was only that I didn't have all the records I wanted to have, and now that problem will be adequately solved at least for that record. And if enough other people are in the same situation as me then whatever lack of funds the Pogues and the brothers Warner are experiencing might be assuaged as well. And I guess I don't mind that.

There are lots of products out there in the world that I have no intention of buying. But people still offer them and it doesn't upset me in the slightest.

Well, vi nyl releases honestly make more sense than CD re-releases, as the albums are not currently already in print on vinyl.

Fair point well made. Don't agree though. It's great to have a bit of banter again here on the raft.
