I agree with that. I think both the "Boat Train" and "Night Train to Lorca" demo versions are better than the final ones that made it on the CD.

Been listening to this again to try to fill in the gaps. I may be wrong, but I'm getting something a little different in some places, including the chorus:
World goes down and I'm on my knees
[The sight of it??] holds no release
Silent enemies at the dark side gates
[???] and I'm still in your dreams
Chorus:
And I love to see you come by
Watch the world make you smile.
I love to see you come my way
Yes, I love to see you come by
Want the world to make you smile
I love to hear you call my name
The sun went down and the moon shone cold
Shedding light on a dead man's [???]
The city was asleeping and the carnival began
They shouldn't wear the judges' robes [???]
2x Chorus
My love you wear your clothes so bare [or "fair"?]
Rings on your fingers and silver in your hair
And all you were was a dream I had
My imagination stopped me feeling sad... [chorus etc.]
[Re-edited a couple of times! And great work again, Alex!]

I think it's not "the sight of it", but "the sign of it".
I'm not sure about "silent enemies at ...", but I don't understand it either.
An I think, then it's: "When all my pain is, I'm still in your dreams."
"My love you wear your clothes so bare" - I think this is right.
I have heard this song 2 days ago the first time and I really love it!
Grettings from Germany!

Music wise I thought it was pretty dope ey...reminds me of The Passenger a bit... Also boat train demo version is better than the bloody CD version. maybe Macgowan didn't care or was pissed off at that stage... Anyways
Let's go driving, let's go driving through the city
Look at my face babe
Trying to flick through second street???
They can touch you, they can bring us to our knees
At the dogging of the looming street??
And I will touch you too
And what I say you'll do
Lets go driving through the city
The blind men are dancing in the dark
And lovers are kissing in the park (or the pub!)
And killers are hiding from the light
In dark streets, ?? through alley's to save time???
I give it all to you
And do what I tell you to
Lets go driving through the city
Need help!? - You know it's safe and warm
You're helpless, but I wont do you any harm!
I kissed you and you told me that you loved me
So trust me, only I can set you free
We'll kiss again my pet
I'll use you till you're dead
Then go driving through the city, go driving through the city

I guess you missed it, but someone already did that one (and did a damned good job, too):

Here's the best I can figure for the first Fairytale demo. Btw Cait's voice is so pretty here that I wish there was a completed (or at least closer to complete) version from this session.
