Peace & Love...Naked!

While I was reading the new book, I was fascinated by the section on the recording of Peace & Love. With many of the the instruments being recorded separately and some criticizing the 'over-production' of the songs, it made me think I would love to hear a 'stripped down' version of the album. Al...

Stars In Their Eyes - Sat 23rd Dec

Just noticed that this coming Saturday 23rd December the DJ Mark Radcliffe, a long time Shane and Pogues fan, is appearing on ITV1's Stars in their Eyes Christmas special as Shane!!

If anyone can pull it off hopefully it's Mark. Looking forward to this one...

And as for the pissed up skinhead with tattoos, who was down the front (slightly to the left). You are a right cunt, you were hitting people over the head with your bottles, falling over every five seconds... in the end I gave up trying to pick you and just trod on your bollocks in an attempt to pr...

It was the wonderful Ella Finer, daughter of Jem, who now seems to be a regular in this slot.

The sound was certainly buggered for many of the first few songs, so cheers to the knob who chucked the beer over the mixing desk. Loved Jem's comment: "Are you so rich you can afford to throw your beer at us? Tosser!". There were some idiots in the audience last night too. 3 fist fights i...

But if Shane were to record a version a new Pogues album would be a fine home for it...

The Pogues - Montreux Festival July 1996

I'm fascinated by this show that took place shortly before The Pogues split in '96. Not to be confused with Shane & The Popes at Montreux which is available on DVD. From what I've read Spider had left so the vocals were shared around the others. There's a set-list on the official Montreux site h...

Spider could do Jesse James for a change, like the old days. I'd love to hear Kitty live too.

Top Pogue

Pointless question really, but it's Friday, it's raining and I'm stuck at work so I need something to occupy my brain. Which of The Pogues has actually played the most Pogues gigs? By my reckoning none of the band have played every gig. Shane, Phil, Terry and James had all left before the last album...

If this really is word for word as Mr Edwards suggests it certainly sounds as if Shane is mellowing with age. Be great if these could become a regular feature on Dickon's diary page though, itself an interesting read.

I've been lucky enough to see The Pogues and Shane & The Popes in all of their incarnations. The shows with Joe were amazing. Yes, there was initial disappointment that Shane was not there, and this took some getting used to, but compared to the lacklustre shows that took place before Shane left...

HMV in Cardiff have 3 copies left today after I purchased my copy. A very fine looking book indeed. Can't wait to get stuck in. 8)

Planky, I've sent you a personal message, check your inbox. I remember this clip well, 1989 I think, around the time of Peace and Love. Shane is interviewed wearing a ghastly purple shirt and is talking about Prince Charles views on architecture! There's an interview with Spider and Phil too and a f...
