Re: Liverpool feis 2019

I don't think anyone who posts here wants to be negative about "Shanoooo" But the billing for this festival last year was misleading, regarding what to expect from him. At least they've worded it differently this time, suggesting that he will contribute something, rather than a proper set....

Re: Liverpool Feis

Just to throw my two cents in, I was done with Shane as a solo act (or with the Popes) after a debacle of a concert in (I believe) 2001. It's funny because this topic went a bit off kilter with the bootleg sub-thread and one of the requests was from the Toronto show from the tour and that was even ...

Re: Liverpool Feis

I wasn't able to get to Liverpool, living in the Nether regions and having to work that day meant no way fella!I have heard conflicting reports regarding Shane's appearance as well as the festival as a whole. My cousin hated the festival[he's a miserable Evertonian!]though he is a Pogues/Popes fan o...

Re: Birthday concert

Hello everybody I have two tickets spare for the birthday concert. The reason being that I had to buy four in order to get one for myself and another. I bought them from someone who was clearly selling to make a profit and for that reason they are not cheap - 300 Euros each. I am not a tout and I a...

Re: Birthday concert

Exhausted every avenue I know to try and get a ticket for this. Not even a sniff of hope anywhere. Think I'll apply for a casual job at the venue, then resign the day after the gig. Has anyone had any success? How about you Fr Mc ? Yes, i was extremely lucky to get two tickets. It's embarrassing to...

Re: The Pogues "The Best Night Out In Town".

There's a good few books out nowadays about The Pogues. Personally I rate this one, James Fearnley's and Carol Clerk's excellent "Kiss My Arse" as the best. I just wish there were some more. Spider Stacy would surely be an ideal candidate to write his memoirs. I think we'd all just love th...

Re: NEW PARIS DVD/CD

Lionel Grosheny has written a wonderful chapter about the Paris shows in the recently released "Pogues" book, by Calum Bruce. It's not a book purely on The Pogues, but it's a cracking read. The story of how the Paris Anniversary shows evolved is told brilliantly by the man who really did l...

Re: New book by Calum Bruce: Hibs and The Pogues, Double A-s

Hi to all on the raft. To answer the question on a hardback copy of my book, well, I'm hoping that a hardback edition will indeed be available sometime in the near future. if that's the case then you'll hear all about it on this thread. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Hendrik Streu and L...

Re: New book by Calum Bruce: Hibs and The Pogues, Double A-s

My copy arrived today, and I've just got this feeling that it's going to be a great read. So very very welcome. As far as The Pogues are concerned, it looks like it may well be "over." So stuff like this keeps the fire burning a little bit longer. I've always felt that James Fearnley's per...

Re: New book by Calum Bruce: Hibs and The Pogues, Double A-s

Wow, was NOT expecting THIS !! Copy ordered from Amazon, the design is fantastic. I really hope it's as good as his last book.
Hope it arrives before Christmas, as I'll have time over the holiday to digest it properly. Well done Calum Bruce.
Can't wait to get it in my hands.
And the book !
