Re: Interview with Shane...New album??

As for the new album, I've burnt through all my hopes on that over the years, as they get smashed against the rocks. I'll get excited about it when I actually order it. I Think it'll be 22nd Century Paddy at this rate  I love the bit in the interview when he says Hank Williams wasn't talking ...

Re: POGUES TRIBUTE BAND COUNTY HELL plays RAINY NIGHT IN SOH

One of the good things about this cover is the vocalist takes inspiration from the strength in Shane's voice, instead of falling into the trap of caricaturing the frailties.

Re: The Pogues Summer, 2014

Well, that's no fun. Try and beat that, is what I'd say is the best thing to do.

Re: Siobhan's wedding

Don't hear about Joey Cashman much these days. Wonder which putrid inn, what stinking tavern or pox ridden brothel is hiding that Goblin now?

Wow, it took me a long time to realise the last song was If I Should Fall From Grace With God. Shane slips into Come to the Bower's melody at times.

Re: Shane comeback?

One of my favourite Dylan songs ever comes from the last few years. Ain't Talkin'. It's brilliant, I think you'd like it, in the morning.

Re: Paul "Mad-Dog" McGuinness Benefit Gig

Not knowing any other details than what was said last night I am not going to say that Shane should have showed up no matter what. He certainly didnt look or sound his best on saturday. I was a bit pissed that the organizers didnt tell the audience until the show was almost over. I am sure that mos...

Re: Paul "Mad-Dog" McGuinness Benefit Gig

Well, Shane felt far too unwell to bother attending and the workaday musicians in his stead tried their best. If any one has photos or video of the Church of the Holy Spook from that night, I'd appreciate it.

Re: the cronins?

According to The Mail On Sunday (Irish edition) he's going into the studio with The Cronins to record an album. Mick Jones to produce and Johnny Depp to guest. He told the Reporter he's quitting The Pogues, joining a gym and drinking tea in the studio. He says his writers block has gone and he's fu...

Re: Paul "Mad-Dog" McGuinness Benefit Gig

Thanks for the heads up. Should he make it, I'd much rather see Shane in this way than another Pogues set.

Re: Shane sings about Dragons

I'll swim and sail on savage seas With ne'er a fear of drowning And gladly ride the waves of life If you will marry me No scorching sun Nor freezing cold Will stop me on my jour-ney If you will promise me your heart And love me for eternity My dearest one my darling dear Your mighty words astound me...
