Re: Best Live Show

Electric Ballroom, Camden, December 1990. It was on a Monday night, they had played at Brixton the previous Friday. The EB gig was announced in the music press on the Wednesday and tickets were on sale at the Brixton box office after the gig there. It was great seeing them in a small venue, especial...

Re: Pogues Tribute album of your dreams

I am a little hazy on this, but I remember an interview with Elvis Costello. He was producing a record of standards for Rod Stewart and wanted him to cover one of Shane's songs. I always thought Rod voice would be a great match for Rainy Night in Soho. So Rod Stewart-Rainy Night in Soho I'm sure I'...

Re: Hyde Park July 5 2014

Enjoyed the set myself. I appreciate Shane wasn't in top form but it didn't appear too detrimental to things. Fantastic to hear 'Streets of Sorrow/Birmingham Six', not sure I've heard that one performed live before. Fair play to all involved - audience, band, stewards, medics - in helping the poor g...

Re: Hyde Park

Me and my good lady will be in The Ship, Wardour Street for a pre-Pogues pint or two from around three o'clock. I'll be the one in the Pogues t-shirt....

I was told all merch from this tour would be available online sometime in January. Will u...

Re: Songs you hope they play in December

I remember back in 2008 (?) after the JLTITE box set was released wondering if any of the rarities/unreleased tracks would get an airing - would love to have heard 'Garbo' or 'NW3', but nothing yet. Still, as others have pointed out, I'm happy just to be going again, whatever they play. As regards t...

Re: POGUES DECEMBER 2013 Live Shows UK

For those of you worrying about tickets from Gigs and Tours, I received the following email from them in mid-October: "Please be assured we have not forgotten about your order and your tickets will be despatched as soon as we receive them, normally 14 days prior to the event. Tickets will be de...

Re: Philip Chevron, June 17 1957 to October 8 2013

Nothing I can add to the tributes already posted here, or indeed the many more to come. I'm lucky enough to have met Phil twice, he was a wonderful man on both occasions and had so much time for the fans. Rest in peace Phil, sadly missed and much loved. I hope you have hooked up with Joe and Kirsty ...

Re: POGUES DECEMBER 2013 Live Shows UK

Tickets booked this morning for Brixton on the 20th....can't bloody wait. Intriuged by the RS&L idea, but very much looking forward to it. Don't think I've ever seen 'Navigator' performed, and will be great to hear 'The Old Main Drag' again. I'm lucky to live close enough to London so that trave...

Re: Stagecraft 101: A question about stage order

I've always really liked that 'formation' on stage, it's almost become part of the band's identity. Like many others, I always try to get as close to the middle as possible but always seem to end up somewhere in front of Spider/Jem or Terry/James by the end of the evening...! Not that I'm complainin...
