Re: 6'10

It's ok. I kinda like Flatfoot 56, even though I'm a strong advocate of the separation of church and Celtic music played by hairy dudes who look Irish

Re: The Pogues at Rock in Indro, Italy, May 2014

I did not visit this board in quite a while so I am sorry if this has been answered already, but who will be playing guitar?

Re: The Tossers

I love the Tossers but I had never paid attention to their lyrics. Sometimes, I just realized that the songs are quite... obscure. Or maybe too poetic for me? Like A Night of Earth, it does not make much sense. Like "it could be our last night until 'morn". Isn't it always the case? And th...

Re: The Mahones

Like most of the Mahones albums, I find that half the songs are great and the other half is meh. But it's just me.

Re: NEW PARIS DVD/CD

Well, that depends. Arrangements evolve over time in the natural order of things. However, "Dirty Old Town" may be a special case as, in 2001, we abandoned the 1985 arrangement we had worked on with Elvis Costello for Rum, Sodomy . Elvis felt that because Ewan MacColl's ballad does not sh...

Re: The Tossers

For those who are interested, here's a Tossers gig.The start playing at about 200:00. They play a bunch of new songs off the new record that should come out really soon, and they're all fantastic.

RIP Tony Sly

I doubt a lot of people here knew who he was. But No Use for a Name did an awesome cover of Fairytale of New York back in the days so I thought it was appropriate to post about his death here. He died two days ago and it's a very sad time for punk rock. :(

Re: Sous Le Soleil Exactement - feat Shane MacGowan

Wow. This is the very first time I hear this song, and while I think it's a great rendition of Gainsbourg's classic, I had to refer to the lyrics sheet to understand what Shane was singing. :D

Re: The Tossers

They said on FB that they can't come to Canada anymore because they can't get into the country. I got to see them once opening for the Dropkicks, but it looks like I won't get to see them again anytime soon. I wonder why they can't enter the country anymore. Maybe one of them got drunk and started s...

Re: The Greenland Whalefishers

What the hell are you talking about? This is so not the point I was trying to make. A punk who feels he has to wear a Bad Religion t-shirt, a Sex Pistols hat, Clash pins and a NOFX jackstrap to be punk is more of a poser than anything else. I like the music. I just think that dressing that way makes...

The Bloody Irish Boys

I searched on the forum but I couldn't find any topic about this band. I just discovered them yesterday, and I think they're very good. They are from Ireland I believe. They play a very fine cover of Streams of Whiskey if you like punk rock. And they also have a good version of Finnegan's Wake. Othe...
