Re: Philip Chevron, June 17 1957 to October 8 2013

I won't have access to a computer tomorrow so a day early I will say RIP Phil, time may go on but the amount you are missed does not diminish

Re: Going to the theatre

Funny Girl Savoy Theatre Strand. London Saturday 25th June 2016 There was naturally an element of disappointment that Sheridan Smith, a very accomplished actress and lovely person, had not yet returned but the understudy Natasha J Barnes had received rave reviews so I was looking forward with intere...

Re: Going to the theatre

The Toxic Avenger The Musical Southwark Playhouse Saturday 23rd April The Toxic Avenger was, apparently, a cult movie of the 80's but I cannot recall hearing of it. The reason I gave this show a go was that it was directed by Benji Sperring, the Director of Shock Treatment so I expected good things ...

Re: Going to the theatre

A Comedy About A bank Robbery The Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly Circus Having dished out performances that had us laughing ‘til we cried with The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong. The Mischief Theatre has done it again with A Comedy About A Bank Robbery. This play is different to the pr...

Re: Going to the theatre

The Gate & The Kings Head Theatre Last weekend I saw plays at two pub theatres. I love the intimacy of little theatres like these and try to support them; in spite of the fact that they tend to be self-supporting they manage to put on very good quality plays. On Saturday at The Gate in Notting H...

Re: Going to the theatre

The Park Theatre at Finsbury Park is one of my favourites. It comprises the 200 (seat) and 90 (seat), both intimate studio venues. Until Saturday I had only been to the former but I liked the look of Hatched 'N' Despatched and I was not disappointed. The seating was 'in the round' and made to feel a...

Re: Going to the theatre

I went to see The Elephant Man at The Haymarket Theatre, London on Saturday. The play does not relate the life of Joseph (John) Merrick as a story, more a series of sketches showing key events but they do flow together reasonably well. Bradley Cooper is absolutely amazing in the title role. He uses ...

Re: Going to the theatre

You beat me to it there Heather. I didn't have time to submit on that one. I was looking at the 'Alice' yesterday but I do not think it would be accessible for my disabled daughter. I am seriously thinking of giving it a go when Tracey is on holiday though.

Re: Going to the theatre

Not the most unusual but The Scoop is quite interesting. I came across it while taking a stroll from London Bridge to Tower Bridge one afternoon. It is situated near City Hall and is an amphitheatre cut into the thoroughfare on the South Bank. There are various events held there, mainly in the summe...

Re: Going to the theatre

When I first started going to the theatre in London it was to the main West End theatres but I have since found some real little gems. I saw The Menier Chocolate Factory on the internet and initially thought it was the title of a play but it is in fact a factory near London Bridge converted to a the...

Re: Going to the theatre

The Play That Goes Wrong. Duchess Theatre, London. Wednesday 10th June 2015, 7.30pm. My choice for our London trip this time was The Play That Goes Wrong , a comedy performed at the Duchess Theatre by the Mischief Theatre Company. I picked it because I thought it would be a little bit like Noises O...
