Re: POGUES - North America, March 2009

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I did mean the 3/7 pompano beach show - sorry for the bit of confusion about that.

Just kidding....
Please don't rely on my estimation, and I'm only guessing at a realistic minimum of 5 hours.

Thanks...I may have to change the clearwater plan and go to a game in fort myers or jupiter that day. Those look a little more realistic.

Re: Floridians - a little help?

I'll be on vacation in Florida in early march. If I leave Clearwater at about 4:00 p.m. on the 7th, is there any chance I'd make it to the show on time? Google maps claims it's a 4 hour and 19 minute trip, basically straight south and then east on I-75, so I'm hopeful. Don't mean to rain on your pa...

Re: WARNERS/RHINO POGUES BOX SET DUE June, 2008

Plus, at B&N, if you are a first-time customer (or if you can convince their computers that you are), you can use coupon code A8P8N9P for 25% off. I'm getting mine for $39, tax included (and shipping is free, although it doesn't ship until June 17). You can also try Barns and Noble here in the U...

I'd like to add my thanks - that was a great night. I was on a first date with a girl who had heard *of* the Pogues but hadn't actually *heard* the music before. Now she's a fan. Also - I had been to the Congress before, to see Flogging Molly, and the sound was terrible. Last night, the sound was gr...

Thanks for the info. That Chicago timing looks weird though - 90 minutes between bands?

I've stayed at both the Hilton on Michigan Ave. (720 S. Michigan, I think, which is a few blocks south of the art instititute) and the Palmer House Hilton (17 E. Monroe, about 2 blocks northwest); both were good and relatively cheap. There are many other options as well (these are the only 2 I've st...

Your best bet is probably either to stay by O'Hare airport or downtown - the Congress theater is a few blocks from the Blue line of the El, which runs between O'Hare and downtown. The theater is in a residential neighborhood.
