Re: 9th Pogue! Replacement for Philip?

More postings feverishly pigeon holed away. Macrua you have the soul of a bureaucrat. Yes, I was just having a similar thought actually... EDIT: I've just seen the other thread and it's lovely to see all of three posts being slotted in there and completely stripped of context. Well done Macrua, you...

Re: "Rum, Sodomy & the Lash" book

"Hello, and welcome to MASTERMIND. Contestant number one - your name?" "Philip Chevron." "And your specialist subject?" "Very, very obscure facts about The Pogues." It's a shame they wouldn't let you on (presumably), cos you'd piss it! (Somehow I don't think &...

I've no recollection of this event. Or Stoke last weekend. Or Fulham. these things are unevents, they have unhappened.

Great post.

For what it's worth, I am certain that Stoke do not actually exist at all.

Re: what trad songs would you like to hear

Is "Lakes Of Pontchartrain" trad? Not sure. If it is, then that one would be cool. It is. I first heard it on a Planxty record when i was younger, but it's sure been recorded a lot. I've heard Warren Zevon do it! But i think the "definitive" version may be Jolie Holland, she rec...

Re: What are your favorite Shane solo songs?

Um, hard to say but "Lonesome Highway" is definitely up there. Also "Nancy Whiskey", "Paddy Public Enemy No 1", "Aisling", "Song With No Name" (actually "Song With No Name" could possibly be my fave - see I've changed my mind already!). Oh ...

Re: LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! - live DVDs

Gosh Macrua, I guess I should be flattered you spent so long deconstructing my post... In fairness I think you have read more into my words than was actually meant - I was merely a little aggrieved at what I took to be an unreasonably worded criticism from Guest/Ian. As I pointed, out he is ...

Re: 9th Pogue!

"Wigan without Amr Zaki would not be a pretty site, in all honesty the Pogues without a guitar player is not ideal really is it ?" God, you people are so irritating sometimes. Ignoring your comparison between ourselves and wigan, i didn't say that we would be playing without a guitar. We'...

Re: LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! - live DVDs

thanks macrua! - that was exactly my point, i am baffled that it took TWO full years for the pogues/warners to realise that they cannot release the dvd because of poor lighting - of course it is wonderful to be told of new projects, i just find the reason for this cancellation extremely lame. equal...

Re: WARNERS/RHINO POGUES BOX SET DUE June, 2008

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how to find the sales figures for the boxset? No reason really but I'm just very curious to know how many copies have sold so far. I would guess it's doing quite well by boxset standards. I don't have overall figures, but I know it has done quite well in Irel...

Re: Box set signing session - 31 May, Dublin!

As I feared, I did not make the connection required to meet the Dublin-bound plane from Birmingham International which would, in turn, take me to the signing session. I see some Pogues/Radiators posters there being signed with a modicum of distaste by my colleague! Lolz on shane taking one f...
