Thanks Duke,

I didn't mean my comments to be about anyone on the forum. Honest. But you mentioned young girls going on about the singer being drunk.
Respect to you all.

Andy P.

Peace and calm down, please. No need to argue here. :)

I think that Andy was not directing specifically at anyone in this forum, at least not in a derogatory way. I believe Andy has seen a wrecked Shane live in concert more times than most of us combined.

On the other hand, just because you love a band as much as we love The Pogues, when a gig is bad (for one reason or another) it is only fair and honest to say that.

I couldn´t come to WOW, and in hindsight I´m not unhappy about it (apart from missing the party at Johan´s, which must have been a cracker - thanks for sharing the pictures, maldoror !).

Let´s all hope there will be another Christmas tour in England this year, and then we´ll all meet up and have a drink. Or two.

Looking forward to it. :D

Some young Swedish girl and other young male festival go-ers are disgusted because the Singer in The Pogues is a drunk. Get over it! Shane MacGowan is a drunk. He is also a genius songwriter and a fantastic performer. If he isn't your cup of tea then hard luck. They had technical problems at that gig which didn't help and frankly as a Pogues fan who has followed Shane since the days when he got his ears bit off at the Roxy I couldn't give a shag about spoilt Swedish children saying... "ooh he is bad role model... my Mum wouldn't like him - he is a drunk... etc"...
Feck off willye! When The Pogues reunion is finally over you'll all be boasting about how you witnessed a gig by these legends. (AKA Leg Ends)!

Thanks for the lesson about the pogues...that was all news to me. I thouht they were a boyband put together only to make money for the record company.
After20 years of listening to the band..........i can´t belive that Shane is a drunk-. Andy: don´t listen to your mother to much.... she only tells you lies

Agree with you on a few points there Andy. But, and there is a but:

Most of the audience at WOW didn't just pop in to WOW, to find out eventually that The Pogues were performing and joined in. Many travelled far and spent a lot money on tickets and travelling, just for The Pogues.

As far as I know, no one writing their opinion in this thread is spoilt children of any kind.

Of course we are very happy to have witnessed another gig by our favorite band and musicians. We enjoyed the party, meeting our friends, and the city. That doesn't mean it was a good gig, cause it wasn't. It was bad. That in turn doesn't mean we will not travel twice the distance next time to another gig. It's because we are fans and we care for the band and the guys we have followed for 25 years ( 22 for me). It's because we love the music and lyrics from this genuis man called Shane MacGowan.

We love our band, and we wish all the best for Shane and the others. Thats why we are conserned when a poor gig is performed. We doesn't blame any of them. We know they all did their best. We'd gladly "Feck off", but for another reason than you state myfriend.

There's probably lots of reasons why the gig turned out the way it did.
Shane's "wobbly" and very late arrival to the arena.
Technical problems
Stand-in guitarist (Philip was clearly missed in my opionion)
Only one short hour of playing.
The fact that the setlist was rearranged before and (as I understand) during the gig because of time restrictions by the festival staff.

All this also partly stated in an earlier post by Mr. James Fearnly.

It doesn't change anything how much we speculate. Reports say that things were back on tracks in Belgium. Hope for the same for the US tour.

And I wish to Christ, And I wish to Chist that it will be a christmas tour in the UK. Because we are going!

Cheers
Kroil

Hey, thanks a lot! You guys (felt like 20 of you, how many were you?) really raised the temperature a lot. Thanks again, both Johan and the others who were there. A lot of the energy came from you. We announce most of our gigs on our MySpace page, so you can probably look there... and of course I can email you as well. I mean, having you in the audience is enough to make a gig great.

I can only agree...that was a fantastic gig. I just loved the energy that you had. Even a melodramatic douche bag like me were really enjoying it. I´ll be there next time!! Hopefully whit my spoiled and negative friend Johan.
