Thanks DzM, soulfinger, Fr. McGreer.

I only brought God into it b/c my brother was actively Christian and I had deal with some people trying to explain God's ways to me. I'm still an atheist, and while I didn't go after anyone, I'm proud to say my eulogy kicked the ass of the sermon.

Overall everyone behaved and it went well. Except for the part where my brother is inexplicably gone and l will never see him again.

So sorry for your loss. God? I don't think so.

Looks like Shaft is off to reunite with Isaac Hayes....

Richard Roundtree, the trailblazing actor who starred as the ultra-smooth private detective in several Shaft films beginning in the early 1970s, has died. He was 81.

Roundtree's longtime manager, Patrick McMinn, said the actor had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 and underwent a double mastectomy.

"Richard's work and career served as a turning point for African American leading men," McMinn said. "The impact he had on the industry cannot be overstated."

Did you ever get an opportunity to meet him?

I did. As a kid, I grew up half a mile from OT. I collected autographs at Old Trafford and the Cliff from 1966-69 every day of the school holidays. He stopped and signed every day, always having a chat with each kid as he did so; he and Sir Matt were so alike. They were genuinely kind men- they didn't let any kids go away disappointed.
I met him again quite a bit when he started up the Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools. I was working with vulnerable children and kids in care. Bobby regularly gave us free places for one of our punters and I used to take them to the course. He was just brilliant with our inarticulate, troubled kids. He made sure they fitted in with the rest of the group and kept a particular eye on their progress. A great man.

They are such good memories to have. Your statement "A very kind gentleman" holds weight.
