The early Fairport Convention albums, their second, third, fourth and fifth have never been surpassed by their subsequent releaases, though most of them were very good, various line up changes might have affected the quality of the bands music.Anytime the name Fairport is mentioned,Sandy Denny,Richard Thompson,Tyger Hutchings, Dave Swarbrick are the members who always spring to mind, half a century on.The Pogues of course will live forever, no problem. As a youngster i was big on The Beatles, Byrds,Zombies, Buffalo Springfield,Love,Doors, shed loads of Irish and UK folkies........and how could i forget, more recently, Ron Hynes,Joni Mitchell and Great Big Sea?Whatever your preference, good music IS still good music.
