Yes, I saw all the covers and the original. This particular attempt was clearly mimicking Bowie's rendition, though.

I hate everything about ZZ Top and don't care when people say there's a great guitarist in that godawful mess.

I'd rather go to a Bob Seger show. :lol:

Bowie's Sorrow was not Bowie's. It was a cover of the Mersey's version of the McCoy's original.

Recent first exposure for me to ZZ Top's version of I Thank You merits addition to the worst cover hall of fame.

So... I was listening to some random cover of Bowie's Sorrow in Whole Foods which led me to The Erin Orchestra's covers and their wretched version 8) of Fool to Cry.

Bon Jovi also did a terrible cover of Levon and publicly said he wished he’d written that song.

Motherfucker co-wrote (with Richie Sambora and Desmond Child) Livin’ on a Prayer and thinks he can compete with Taupin? :roll:

Sinéad O’Connor did an amazing cover of Sacrifice on that Taupin/John tribute album.

Agreed! I always liked how he turned it from duet to solo (which JBJ did for all the good it did him). Christy definitely made the song his own, and for a long time it was the only cover version I liked.

Florence & the Machine with Billy Bragg have since pulled it off as a duet.
