May fair winds and well-being always behold Mr. Gaughan. He is a true bard and makar of high degree, and the fruits of his labor shower blessings upon all who hear his work, live or via recording. His honest dedication to the world-wide struggle of liberation inspires and lifts the hearts of those who feel the weight of that struggle. Moreover, he is a peoples' filidh, our troubadour examplar, a veritable font of encouragement, from which we may find our own courage to rise up and stand tall.

Many, many, thanks, to the profoundly kind Mr. Gaughan.

From the heart of the occupied N. American colonies, from where our rulers eat our children as we dine on trans-fat and are dazzled by the constant display of shimmering, trivial nonsense. Such is empire. May it utterly fall.

I was lucky enough to see Dick play with local legend Seamie O Dowd twice in the last year.

I'm not ashamed to say I love Dick (pun intended). Lentils are OK too, but i wouldn't go out of my way for a bowl. I must admit some of his more electric stuff on recent albums hasn't done much for me. Crimey, that's some crap sounding programmed drums on parts of Lucky For Some. But those same songs are brilliant when he does 'em live.

Dick Gaughan is a true legend.
Stroking chin. Famously scared of lentils.

[quote]Are there any chin stroking, lentil eating folkies out there, who likes the legendary DICK GAUGHAN,a fine guitarist, great vocalist ,a man with a world view that surely he has few peers.Think of BILLY BRAGG,CHRISTY MOORE,PHIL OCHS,SI KAHN,DICK is all of those put together plus change.Listen to No Gods [and precious few heroes] which would really piss the shortbread tinned so-called Scots well and truly off!If SCOTLAND should ever be in need of a real leader[NOT king!]then DICK GAUGHAN OF LEITH is that man.
