I started the thread. I think McMullen responded to it as 'guest'.

I know it's over 2 years ago, but i started this thread and so did my wife!

My father passed away last year :( and i inherited all his original Dubliners, Johnny Cash and Wolfetones vinyls. :) I'll look after them!

I have inherited "A drop of the hard stuff" original LP from my Parents.
I have just realised it is 40 years old

I was wondering does anyone know what period of time/sessions are songs such as

Parcel of Rogues
Free The People
The Molly Maguires
Lord Of The Dance
Johnston's Motor Car

recorded in, as they feature on a number of compliations always together (such as albums entitled 'Whiskey in the Jar' and 'Foggy Dew') and yet they are neither on the first 3 dubliners albums nor the four featured in the 'Original Dubliners' 2cd set. Therefore, if someone is hoping to get a complete set of Dubliners essentials by purchasing this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Dublin ... 158&sr=1-3
and this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Originals-Dubli ... 05&sr=1-23

then, as someone already mentioned they will pretty much have The Dubliners first 7 albums, but they will not have the above list of songs.

Not sure if anybody will still be with me but basically....

When are these songs from? What actual originally released album (not compilation) do they come from?

And there's another, slightly different, discography on Wiki, though it says it's "unfinished": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dublin ... inished.29

Dubliners Albums

Post by Gurrier Fri Sep 14, 2007 9:04 am

Can anybody tell me what all the official Dubliners albums brought out were?

The only ones around here for purchase are Best Of cd's but I managed to track down a couple of torrents for albums such as; A Parcel Of Rogues, Revolution and Live In Carré. Are all the main albums still available for sale? I'd like to get the whole collection.

I'm sitting here speechless listening to A Parcel Of Rogues. Songs smattered about the place that you never seem to hear on Best Of cd's ever. Like Foggy Dew (The one about courting a pretty young maid, not dying neath an Irish sky), Parcel of Rogues, Boulavogue...the list goes on, they're all frigging brilliant

Also can anybody tell me what album the song, The Gaol of Cluain Meala is from?

Cheers!

On the "Irish Drinking Songs", a nice Dubliners/Clancy Brothers compilation. :)
