Amen brother, as a matter of fact the upcoming music video for the song was directed by Scorsese. Really looking forward to seeing it.

I talked to "the kid" from the Murphys some years ago when Black Out was released, evidentally Woodie's grandson owns, or co-owns the rights to all of his material, and is a huge fan of the Murphys so he gave them access to tons of unreleased lyrics.

Not because its popular at the moment, but because Woodie Guthrie wrote it.

Quality song, love the instrumental to it. On a related note, I thought the soundtrack choice for The Departed was fuckin top notch!

Dick Gaughan is indeed fantastic... and with all due humility you should listen to my version. Available through me, of course. I love that song. One of Ed Pickford's finest.

"workers' song" is great, but all versions paie by way of comparison to dick gaughan.

i don't know about a favourite, but i'm quite fond of their cover of "fortunate son". "good rats" is up there, tho. hell, about half of "blackout" & "sing loud..." & "warrior's code" count as my favourites.
