Thanks for the heads up Esther. I got to him play about a week ago and it was an awesome show. I was kind of hoping that he'd be headlining the show but no such luck. I didn't get a chance to talk to him as he seemed pretty busy. Keep posting any updates that you have as you seem to have them first with the family connection. 8)

Thanks, dublinrambler, I need to get that album. Love the first two.
WEW is touring in England next month with Nina Nastasia under the Twisted Folk banner. Don't know much about Nina, but I'll be seeing them at a lovely tiny venue. :)

Will is best seen in a small venue. Be sure to get there early! He is the opener on this tour, followed by Rocky Votolato and Lucero. I was told that Slim's is owned by Boz Scaggs, for what it's worth.

Slim's is a good (at least it has been in the past and I have no reason to suspect it's changed) smallish venue. Good place to see an intimate show.

William Whitmore in San Francisco

William Elliott Whitmore is playing in SF next week at a place called Slims.

Thu Oct 12 2006 SLIMS SAN FRANCISCO, CA

I'll be at the first 2 Pogues shows, but haven't got any plans for Thursday - this could be a nice gig. I like his sound - like a melodic Tom Waits...

anybody have any first hand knowledge of this place?

Yup, great album. Got to see him on tour for this album a month or so ago and will get to see him again at the end of this month. Best show that I've ever seen (next to the Pogues of course). Got to see them both in NYC earlier in the year and it was awesome! I can't get enough of this his work. There's a live recording of his that someone posted on dimeadozen.org too.
