As for acknowledgement - how many pop/rock bands should endlessly express their thankfulness to the Beatles for example? Yes, FM were undoubtedly inspired by the Pogues - and so what? At least they had a good source of inspiration and they keep the "Poguesque" music alive. Yes, they sometimes obviously borrow from Pogues songs - I guess
Another Bag Of Bricks really borrowed the melody from
Turkish Song Of the Damned. But so did
White City borrowed the melody from
Curragh Of Kildare. And would you blame the Pogues for ripping off trad songs and not taking off their hats to the great Mr Trad every time they play them?
