The Velvet Underground would be a lot like Franz Ferdinand if Lou Reed was a better song writer!

i particularly like the description of Kraftwerk:
"These guys are like a German version of Nine inch Nails, only funnier and slightly more talented.(And much older.) "
The more i read it the better it gets . It could only be bettered if he'd started the sentence with "Whoa, Dude!..."

Maybe we could use this descriptive style to recommend other artists to each other ?

DzM: :-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
lllllol.
Maybe something about album of the century, at least sport commentators like to say something is "match of this century" and I heard about at least 5 albums of the century (the same one - 20th)

+ I found ugly habit to overrate anything new. For example in our country even worst *** (I mean mostly films but not only those) can earn very good grades. When it is stupid and rude - it´s for the young ones (poor americanised ones-hope you´re not US:-)), when it is "likephilosophic" - critics write it is great and with really deep thoughts, although really it is hollow, just with some "nonsentical" stuff - they can say it is postmodern (another "great" word - when something is total crap, it is just postmodern)

I wonder if we can create a simple template for our own reviews?
$BAND_NAME's latest offering, $ALBUM_NAME, is an excellent salute to their first album, $OLD_ALBUM_NAME. It evokes their youthful energy and enthusiasm yet showcases their developed skills as musicians. I'd go so far as to say that $ALBUM_NAME will, a hundred years from now, but thought of as the iconic release that defined a generation.

Of course when listening to $ALBUM_NAME one can't help but to draw parallels with more well known acts like $1BIG_BAND, $2BIG_BAND, and even to $REALLY_BIG_BAND when listening to the track $HIGHLIGHT_TRACK. It boggles the mind how these lesser bands - these lesser musicians - these lesser humans - enjoy greater commercial success than $BAND_NAME. Their works are, in retrospect, derivative and banal. These bands lack the creative honesty that would have caused them to erase their master tapes and lock the studio doors.

I will no longer listen to music other than $ALBUM_NAME. As I write these words I am waiting for the charcoal in my grill to heat up. Once they are hot enough I will be depositing my collection of now obsolete music on the coals and I will never look back.

In conclusion, I give $ALBUM_NAME a solid three stars out of five, and look forward to $BAND_NAME sacking their drummer before their next recording session.
Hmm. I'm sure there's room for a little cleaning up here, but it seems to hit the basic points well enough.

Here you have one more breathless review regarding the same (Flogging Molly) topic. Just to be fair, to give some satisfaction to those pissed off by the review above and piss off others. ;)

From Regrettable Albums from Generally Reliable Artists by Adam Bregman:

"In concert, jolly, pseudo-Irish nutters Flogging Molly are an excellent justification for vomiting on a stranger's sweater. They're a grand time especially when the audience is so ass-drunk that they can imagine they're witnessing the Pogues. However, listening to 'Within a Mile of Home' while sober is a less-sudsy experience. The album combines the over-the-top preposterousness of U2 with blatant larceny of Shane MacGowan's masterpieces and tops it off with a jug of Guinness' worth of silly, teary-eyed sentiment."

Reviews provide a great opportunity to show off and dazzle the world with your smashing word stock and metaphor mastery. And even a greater opportunity to have a good laugh over reading them... :)

P.S. By the way, I like 'these guys (and gal)', I really do. :)

And imho it is pretty stupid to say something IS better than something else. Maybe it sounds better to him but I wouldn´t dare to say those things.
Maybe think (I think Pogues are far better than Molly - The music is far more varied and "deeper" and lyrics...even I don´t like Shane as most of people do, he is at least one class higher than Molly.), but never write officially.

No, certainly not. When we say how brilliant they are, we know we're absolutely right.

I was searching for some John Mcdermott and Irish tenors on a website that sells irish music tapes/dvds/cd's and i couldnt believe what i read , It will shock you.

I found a flogging molly cd on here and look what it's caption of purchase read...

Flogging Molly's debut studio release is simply phenomenal. Their Guiness-soaked lyrics and melodies will have you singing and dancing in the streets. Tell the Pogues to step aside, becasue these guys(and gal) are better musicians and write lyrics that make the Pogues seem like a high school marching band. One listen to Flogging Molly and you will be instantly addicted. This album is wonderful from begining to end. You'll start rock with "Salty Dog" and then they leave cryin' in yer whiskey with "Far Away Boys"(my personal favorite). This album must be added to your collection along with their four other albums. (Review By Liam Patrick Holt, (Chattanooga, TN)

I instantly think Flogging Molly sucks(I know i shouldnt) but come on there's no way Flogging Molly is close to The Pogues in talent , COME ON!

HELL THE PERSON CAN'T EVEN SPELL!!!
