I love that album. I know of one or two bands that have some similarities, though they also have their differences to The Waterboys.
I recommend Oceanic Feeling by The Prayer Boat- the sound of which is part Waterboys, part Van Morrison.
Hothouse Flowers early work also has some similarities to Waterboys. One of the tracks on therir second album, "Home", features Waterboys fiddle player Steve Wickham.
If it's the fiddle playing you like, The Frames are a great band- though rockier and a lot less folky than Waterboys. Fitzcarraldo or Set List would be a good starting point.
Irish bands The Big Geraniums and The Black Velvet Band were regarded as part of the same "raggle taggle" scene as The Waterboys; I don't have albums by either (just a couple of vinyl singles lurking somewhere) so can't recommend anything in particular.
