Overall, probably a predictable way to go toward the end.

Watched it today, some parts brilliant, some parts cringeworthy, i agree with others Shane does not look particularly healthy as the film finished. Any news on how he is now?

Yep i wholeheartedly agree. What i find difficult is listening to his close friends or associates saying he's working on a new album and is gonna be getting in shape for a few gigs. Do they [i]really[/i] believe that? Oh how I wish it was going to happen though :([/quote]

They showed a plaque to mark that Shane lived in a building during 79-82. Does anybody know where it is? I guess Burton Street in London. I was there last year and I didn´t see it but since I didn´t know about it I never looked for it.

We really need an official release of that show

Well it's taken until new year's eve to sit down with a pint of Guinness and Mrs McGreer to watch it.

We loved it; especially the childhood scenes filmed in and around the home place and the townlands of Tipperary where Shane spent his formative years. The animated scenes that flesh out Shane's narration are also brilliant.

Now, i've never had a problem understanding Shane's speech but this is tough going. Shane's recollections are played through the effect of an old tape recorder. After 15 minutes I started again with the subtitles on. I could either enjoy the visuals and struggle the dialogue or switch on the subs and miss the visuals.

Siobhan stands out as the star contributor. Her honesty is stark, funny and heartbreaking. Gerry Adams gets the most interaction. Shane seems to respond to the way Gerry just chats to him as an old friend rather just straight up questions. Poor old Bobby Gillespie tries the 'question' tactic and gets completely burned.

I was hoping for more from Depp but his highlight was being told by Shane that he couldn't sit through a full movie with Johnny pretending to be a Pirate.

I'm surprised there was no booklet included with the DVD. And no extras considering the amount of footage they had gathered for this.
