I haven't bought that rag since 1985 when my late father was a print worker at The Times newspaper when Murdoch and Thatcher butchered the unions (supported by The London Metropolitan Riot Squads at Wapping). The only time i saw Billy Bragg was one saturday night he did an impromptu gig at the picket line.

Having said all that, when i'n the barber's i've been known to have a cheeky peek at page 3 ........sorry..........

I'm going to the Justice Tonight gig in Dublin which is in support of the above. Mick Jones is playing with Guests 8)

Common sense and good taste didn't stop him, but a phone call from "their people" and he's "banned from doing that joke." Jeez. Grow a pair, Mr. McWhinypants. And also, anyone care to speculate on who "a particular member of the Pogues camp didn't see the funny side?"

That'll teach me to do late night night postings.

I do apologize to any and all for in any way implying that Whiny McWhinypants' story, as reported by the Sun, had any truth behind it. The article is linked to for the humor value, nothing more. I do apologize for making anyone visit the site unintentionally, or for implying that anyone's people actually reached out to Mr. McWhinypants with a cease-and-decist.

Just trying to work out how exactly it's possible for The Pogues, or "their people" to actually ban a joke. Unless they have powers that any dictator worth his/her salt would dream of. Still, it gives whatever-his-name-is a bit more publicity, I suppose.

Dammit, DzM, you've just made me go on the Scum's website.

I'm willing to bet not a single member of The Pogues objected to his "version". Why bother when there are plenty of other, funnier comics willing to go into battle on the record's behalf. Every five year old in the UK knows every single word of that song, as I saw at first hand when several thousand of them sang along with Keating's version, correcting his regrettable lapse of taste for him on that whole haggard/blackguard thing.................

This video is just completely fucked up. It is beyond belief for me, how the people in the audience can find it funny at all. I mean, Pixie Lott was quite okay, she did a good job, but this prick (didn't know him before) is just ridiculous. I've got nothing against parodies and stuff, they can indeed be quite brilliant, but this was just plain crap.

Yep, he's a total wanker for that. I thought he would be above that 1970's style Paddy Whackery. Bring on the Irish dancers and take the piss out of them. At that point i had to quit watching.

A few years ago, his posh take on everyday subjects was very funny such as describing trying to overtake a slow lorry or looking at the cars stuck in a traffic jam on the other side of the motorway. But nothing new since then.

That video is complete shite.
