Yes but is it the farewell Christmas tour? Or the farewell tour? :?

Think Spider explains it quite well over on the Pogues My Space page. I really dont think you can add anything more to it.

I would hazzard a guess that this a "farewell" to the traditional Xmas tours that have taken place over the last few years and the title is of course a ploy to get as many people to attend as possible. Seems reasonable to me. Everyone has a living to make and no lies are being told. Its not as if Shanes turned up at the 02 in London at a press confrence shouting "This is it, this is it"

Heather:

You didn't really upset me ;) It was just a theory I had in mind because of the title of this tour. Of course you can call it "crap" if you like, it probably is rubbish indeed :D I don't know...whatever it might be, it will certainly be a wonderful tour with many good times! I probably misinterpreted this "marketing ploy" which could be because I'm from Germany and therefor not able to perfectly understand the English language ^_^ ... I thought of "marketing ploy" as being some kind of "management trick" coming from the Pogues' manager to get more people buying tickets because of the tour being declared as the last one of the band. Anyway, I'm delighted that Mr. Chevron said something against it, so obviously not everybody within the band agrees on this subject. I just hope that THIS group will play many more shows in the future...I always think back about 3 years, when I discovered the Pogues, it fucking changed my life completely ;)

Peace and Love to all of you!

And as for marketing ploy to sell the tickets, like someone suggested, what a load of crap, it's alll media hype.

Why is it crap? It's very certain that more people will think "Oh, it's their last tour and I didn't see them yet, so I will buy some tickets and go to the show before it's too late and I'll never see them..."

Philip Chevron even called it a "marketing ploy"...so it doesn't seem like "a load of crap" to me...

obviously, there are disagreements within the band about whether to continue or not and I might take the liberty to suggest that f.e. Spider wouldn't mind if the Christmas-Tour-Routine every year would stop. There have been several posts from him that show this quite a bit...anyway, just a suggestion. Peace!

Yes Philip did and I actually had forgotten that Philip had said that. And for the record that was not what I mean't when I wrote it and I'm not really sure why I wrote it, I was just a little peeved with people calling it the final tour and I mean't to say something else, but as usual I wrote the wrong thing. I'm not a bad person, I've always backed out of trouble, rightly or wrongly. I'm sorry if I've upset you.
