Ron Kavana first came to Germany 20 years ago, with a Rythm'n'Blues band; the last time he was here was together with the Pogues.

Well, I see it this way.
Thank you MacRua.

I have collected all of his CDs, and some vinyl. Does he ever go on tour?

He played a few concerts in UK, Ireland over the summer.
The gigs are usually listed here:

In the booklet of "Alien Alert" the name "Alias Ron Kavana" is mentioned as the band's name. His solo albums are only by "Ron Kavana". A bit like John Bon Jovi, only that Ron's music is better

It's a pain in iTunes cuz sometimes it sorts under R and sometimes under A...that extra scrolling is a chore.

Search for "Kavana" and you'll find more (for "Everyman is a King", LILT, "Home Fire" etc.)

There are those who do not know what "alias" is and take it to be performer's first name...

I didn't see a thread anywhere else for Kavana's work... so here goes. Has anybody else picked up his mammoth "Irish Ways" collection? Good stuff. There's tons of great info in the booklet accompanying the release, but the one nugget I liked was the signature at the end of the introduction. He signed his essay "Rurai O Caomhanach" (with a bunch of the accent marks common in Irish gaelic that I can't replicate here) and then beneath it he writes "Alias Ron Kavana." I always wondered why some of his releases are as Alias Ron Kavana.
