All over for another year Kirsty fans ….. here is Kirsty’s mum’s message:
All over for another year Kirsty fans ….. here is Kirsty’s mum’s message:

Hello everybody,

Please sing loudly in the square so I can hear you. I am very sorry to miss you all this year but sadly age is catching up with me. I hope to get news of the event later and maybe Louis will send some photos. He and Jamie will both be there. As promised I have continued the battle for a memorial in Cozumel for Kirsty. So far no news to report. Meanwhile let’s celebrate Kirsty‘s life and songs. Thinking of you all.

Love Jean

Every year on the Sunday nearest Kirsty's birthday (10 Oct) family, friends and fans gather in Soho Square. Jean MacColl usually fills everybody in on the campaign and there's singing, then everyone goes to the pub and there's more singing.

If you are in the square, the bench is on the Frith St side, just on your left as you come into the square.

Thanks for the link - next time I should take the little map from the website to know which part of the square to search in. :)

Er.....??? When is it? :)

And was it March? Crikey time has flown.

To think I've been in soho square multiple of times and never thought to a) sit down b) look for Kirstys bench.

This will be my mission in the next cupla weeks.

Cheers Caukill ;)

I intend to view this bench in December. And take some snaps. Thanks for the heads-up Caukill and Agent Z, as always. :D

Yeah, it's definately worth taking the time out to visit the square. If anyone is visiting for the London December shows chances are you'll find yourself in Soho at some point anyway.

Kirsty memorial bench in London town

Apologies if this is old news but i figure that some of you will want to visit. Yesterday afternoon i was walking thru Soho Square in central London & i saw a bench with some flowers on it. As i passed i noticed the plaque on the bench was inscribed with 'Kirsty MacColl' & a lyric taken from her song 'Soho Square' . Apparently the memorial has been there since 2001. More details & pictures here:

If you're not local or don't know the area it's a great place for people watching or just to take out 10 mins in the heart of London.
