I used to listen to Dancin' to the Ceili Band alot when it came out.
The Bucks also played Gino in Stockholm Sweden at the time. It was 40 SEK at the door (about 6 dollars).
Great show, althought they only played Pogues tunes nothing with the Bucks.
And also Ron Kavana was not on stage that night.

One more thing, there was this drunk wanker who were shouting for Shane at the show as the band were walking on stage, but the accordion player aggressivly told him to fuck off.

Tonight just listened to Dancin' to the Ceili Band for the first time and really enjoyed it. I can tell this one will grow on me more each listen.

Got Dancin' to the Ceili Band the other day. I had a few listens and think its great. Overall its a fun and interesting album.
Very satisfying experience.
And, yeah, Gra Geal mo Chroi is pretty fantastic.

Do so, nboldock, it´s well worth it. I´ve said it before, but to me their song "Gra gael mo chroi" is one of the finest pieces of Irish music, both musically and lyrically.

very good, brilliant show !

almost better than the record which is in my opinion really good as well...

I was at the same show ... and had a brilliant time. A wonderful gig, both by The Bucks and Shane & The Popes.

The next day, we headed back home for Hannover and went to see The Leningrad Cowboys. Four days later I went to see The Whisky Priests ... what a week !

the instrumental tunes are a blast, the slow songs are pretty and the fast one really rock !

yeah...it's a shame they only did one record...

Hope I haven´t been too blind again not to find a thread that already includes all the answers I´m looking for - but here I go ...

I think The Bucks` "Dancin` to the Ceili Band" is the finest record anyone of the Pogues made after leaving the band. But what happened to the Bucks - why did they record only one CD ? Why did they split up ? Are Terry Woods and Ron Kavana no longer friends and writing partners ? Would be a pity !

Or was it just meant as a one-off project when they started ?
