Not to mention that he doesn't seems like a reasonable guy to me.

"Ha! This'll show those guys in the band opening for me. I'll play badly and punish the audience for their lead singer not being here! Hells yeah!"

Yep. Seems reasonable.

To be fair, Dylan has given some terrible performances in his time, you can't blame somebody for searching for SOME explanation :)

Actually, he didn't make it at all, until after the section of the tour with Dylan came to a close, in Los Angeles. Thereafter, Shane made his appearance, in Texas or somewhere, and we carried on our tour. There might be an implication or two to draw from this, but I'm fucked if I'm going to.

Assuming you're referring to the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA, a bootleg of that show popped up on Dimeadozen (fka Easytree) a year or so ago.

Pogueslive.com says:
"03-Sep-89
Greek Theater, University of California, Berkeley, California, USA
45 min. Support for Bob Dylan
Battle March Medley / Greenland Whale Fisheries (Spider Stacy vocals) / Cotton Fields (Andrew Ranken vocals) / Young Ned of the Hill (Terry Woods vocals) / If I Should Fall From Grace With God (Philip Chevron vocals) / Lorelei (Philip Chevron vocals) / Repeal of the Licensing Laws / Johnny Come Lately (Spider Stacy vocals) / USA (Spider Stacy vocals)/ Star of the County Down (Andrew Ranken vocals) / Gartloney Rats (Terry Woods vocals) / Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah (Spider Stacy vocals)

Without Shane MacGowan. The Los Angeles Times quoted Spider as saying "He got sick at the airport. It became apparent there was no way he was going to be able to make it at this time.""

Yes, The Pogues did support Bob Dylan in 1989 on the West Coast in America. It was right after they released "Peace and Love," I think. Anyway, it was the tour that Shane MacGowan completely missed due to illness and various other issues.

I was looking at some site and saw a poster for Bob Dylan at the Greek Theater in 1989. It said it featured the Pogues. Anybody know what all they played, did they just play an opening song, do backup instruments?
