I felt it was kinda lost on the majority of the crowd, they were there for the Libertines (who also played tribute to Gerry Conlon, again, lost on the majority).
Shane was on good form though he looked a bit knackered, band were tighter than a noose round a judges neck as always.
Only complaint from me is it shoulda been 2 hours

I still found a bloke next to me who knew all the words to The Body of an American amongst other tunes too, so I was happy enough

Well, from listening to the youtube videos, where you can hear his singing very clearly, and from what other people have stated, Shane was in really bad shape. I can't stand this sugar-coating any longer. I'm the biggest Shane-fan (you might wanna say worshipper) you will find in Germany, but that doesn't change the fact that Shane was clearly not well in Hyde Park.
I wouldn't say he was that much worse than usual performance-wise to be honest (over the past 10 years or so). He managed to sing the correct lyrics several times, not necessarily the right line at the right time but hey, kinda used to that over the years

I've seen him much less coherent!
But on a serious note, yeah, he didn't look a well man really. And this time around I'm inclined to believe his statement about this years shows being the last.

I think there is a difference...when you listen to the Paris DVD for example, he's still got the energy and that typical and classic MacGowan sneer and vigor, despite his voice being shot (compared to the good old days)...now listening to recent youtube uploads from Bristol and Hyde Park, the energy is just completely gone...he just mumbles into the mic, no guts...I just hope that the recent health fears will turn out to be nothing serious...good old Shane, love him like family man.
Actually I'll give ye that, that auld energy isn't there. That's true. I think it is still 'in him' it's just not coming out.
All the energy is in the band. He does seem tired.
Not a bad run for only reforming for 'one gig' back in the day though eh
