It goes without saying, i too missed not seeing the Pogues ,though last year as a result of the lousy weather in the UK,i collapsed at work, three days after the Birmingham gig and ended up in bed with nothing but dried toast for company!I have taken advantage of the Pogues wir sabbatical and am enjoying the tropical weather in Amsterdam.....though i really have missed seeing The Pogues, heres hopimg they make up for it next Summer.

On a related subject, Jack L and Camille O'Sullivan sang Fairytale live on the radio today and Jack was saying he's touring with Sharon Shannon and The saw Doctors over the new year.

He said he'll be singing Thousands Are Sailing (amongst his own songs) with Sharon's band. The radio presenter said Shane is a genius all the great lyrics he's written

Well thanks for the info, your reverence. D'ya know what station that was?

It was the Ray D'Arcy show on Today FM. There's no pod cast and you can't listen back by the looks of it. But here's Camille and Jack in the Olympia in 2008...

I miss the christmas tour too. I have been traveling from Norway since 04 (exept 06 when i was in a coma woke up for a while on the 17. my 30 birthday but all i did mumbling about was what the clock was and that the Pogues should hit the stage in minutes). The gigs have gotten bether for every year, last year was just pure magic.I miss all the great people i meet each year at Canterbury Arms and the friendly staff there. So my christmas wish will be Pogues christmas tour 2012:)

It definitely feels like something's missing from Christmas this year. I've been going to the December gigs in London for many years. I even remember one year in the 90s when we got a festive double-whammy - The Pogues (with Spider) one week and Shane & The Popes the next. Shepherds Bush Empire I think it was. But the gigs since 2001 have just been the best. At least I got my fix at Greenwich in the summer.

Hope the guys reconsider next year. 30 years of the Pogues, 25 year anniversary of Fairytale and all that....

Im missing my xmas Pogues concert as well,I remember the awful weather of last year but managed to get down for the Tuesday night gig at Brixton, the train journey home to Manchester the next day was interesting. Although if I had got stuck in London I could have gone to see the lads again on Wednesday evening.

As any fule kno there are both Blues and Clarets & Blues in Brum. All have the same speech impediment so Heather did well to follow directions. :P

Tut Tut
Having just got back from the claret and blues game against Liverpool in sub zero temperatures and another dismal performance my speech impediment is at its worst so forgive me SoleFingy , thing is , for me anyway, i was kind of hoping the trade would be for a paddys day 30th anniversary party gig in London but it seems this is also a no no.
Just like my football team my favourite band are proving to be a let down, seems like its all about the money nowadays,
Pissed off Birmingham

Heather wrote:This time last year, it was snowing really really heavily. I started to panic because I was supposed to be going to see The Pogues in Birmingham the next day. Thing was I didn't need to panic as despite the fact the snow was deep, we made it to Birmingham on time. There was a point I didn't think we'd make the gig as none of the locals knew where the venue was. Eventually a coloured guy pointed us in the right direction. Walking round in the snow wasn't much fun, but the gig made up for it.

Both Jake and I miss our little trips away this time of year, seeing The Pogues somewhere different, staying in a different place, it really makes Christmas for us. This year definitely doesn't feel the same. :(

So we weren't the only ones walking around in the snow looking for the venue. We got directions from the hotel that was slightly wrong. I turned out that if we had taken a turn to right instead of left we would have been only 200 meters from the venue.. Instead we walked in the wrong direction for 20 minutes.. But thanks to a nice cab driver in Birmingham that stopped to pick up two lost Norwegians we got their in time.. We payed him well for that trip.. I think he got more than a 100% tip from us..
