I think what Phil means there is...look, my bones ache and I like my own bed...to which I concur wholeheartedly...you live in Australia and are too young to have seen The Pogues? Well tough shit sonny.

I think the best chance we have of getting the Pogues to Australia would be either through the Bluesfest (East and West Coast) and sideshows (badger Peter Noble!!), or through Soundwave - particularly the Harvest festival that they are apparently going to do.

The Pogues at Bluesfest would be one of the most sensational highlights they could have. Would achieve legendary status in the same way that Parliament/Funkadelic and BB King have.

We'd love to play NZ or Australia, but none of the serious offers we've had in the past ten years have been able to match the economic reality of what it takes to bring an eight piece band, plus crew, on a tour of so distant a territory. It requires a schedule, not just "one concert" to justify the expense, but you live in a very big country and our time for traversing it, flying out to a gig in the morning and playing it that night has long since passed. We are much older than we ever meant to be and insist upon the creature comforts survival earns.

I've just realised you weren't even born last time we played Oz!
