Been to hundres of concerts, but never sawso much heart, soul, and sweat put into the loveof the music than these guys did. Flash forward to today, and I want to take my 15 year old daughter. Music is something you can pass down to your kids, and while she is not fan now some day i wat her to look back an say I sawthe best of the best.

My problem is my wife searched the band and wikipedia paints them as clowns. What they leave out is what passion the band has, what beauty the songs portray, and what garbage the internet is. Obviously I would prefer she learn the lyrics later but does anyone here see anything wrong with showing the next generation how much work it takes to be the pogues?

Ok, wikipedia is not perfect... but, you know, not everyone can undestand the pogues. And, unluckily, Shane is just Shane for us but, for others, he is someone that's really easy to describe like a sort of freak...
I would suggest that you give your daughter the opportunity to know the pogues without forcing her, i.e. listening to their songs when she is around, or while you bring her to school... If she likes them, don't mind about the lyrics and let her listen as much as she wants and come to the show with you; I listen to the pogues' songs since I was a few months old, got the meaning of the lyrics when I was quite young but I haven't grown up so badly after all...

I hate to say it, but if your wife is taking wikipedia's opinion over yours, that seems to be a larger issue than just going to a Pogues show.

But, on topic, had it not required taking him out of school for two days to make the trip, my eight year old nephew would be going to the Congress with me. I think it's extremely important to expose the next generation to real, quality music...something that goes beyond the crap that's generally on Top 40 radio.

Best of luck my friend!
