Got a reply from academy: I asked Hi - can I just check age restrictions for Pogues on Monday. For the seated balcony area - is it no age restrictions but under 14s need to be accompanied by adult?

They replied:

Hi

The Pogues show is over 18s only,

Many thanks

Hi there,
last couple of times I've been to Pogues at O2 Glasgow I'm sure it was supposed to be over 18s but if you had balcony tickets you were OK. My son was 12 last year and it was Ok. Anyone know if its changed this year for sure - because I've got a 12 yo and 13 yoy who are going to be gutted. Don't want to drive all way down from Perth to find they can't get in.

Just checked with the O2 Academy Glasgow and it is, indeed, over 18s on Monday evening, which they said was requested by the promoter. We had a ticket for my 14 year old niece - who was there last year - and her mum is just about to break the bad news to her.

Thanks to the original poster for drawing this to my attention. Being 17 you should chance your arm but my niece couldn't pass for 18 in a month of Sundays so we're not even going to try.

You, like me, were simply hopeful.

::sigh:: To quote the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get the porn threads." I might be paraphrasing.

Soulfinger Jr has been accompanying me to Pogues gigs for the last 7 years. He was 11 when he started coming with me. He really couldn't've even remotely passed for 18 until last year. He's been to various venues in Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and Dublin; and no doorman has ever given him a second glance... of course that could have been because he was accompanied by a responsible adult...but probably not.

Hmm. I'll ask. Check in here this time tomorrow.

I've asked our tour manager Gerry. He doesn't have an immediate answer but will definitely get back to me. Stay tuned.

Well, they have a bar inside. What´s the age restriction to buy alcohol in the pubs?

Usually 18 in the UK, but some bars don't let in anyone under 21, it's up to the venue.
