This is on ebay ; if you want the actual link for a obvious bootleg you'll have to, of course, find it yourself!
I'm not going to bid for it . If, however, anyone here has it already I'd love to trade for a copy (cd or whatever) of it.

THE POGUES / SHANE MACGOWAN RARE LP LIVE '85!

A very limited vinyl LP import "Soit" was recorded LIVE in Germany on
April 21st 1985 and London on December 8th 1985. With 14 classics this one
would make a fine addition to and Pogues collection.

Side A:
1.Repeal Of The Licensing Laws 2.Boys From The County Hell 3.Digle Regatta
4.Poor Daddy 5.Battle Of Brishane 6.Waxie's Dargie 7.Mulrshin Dunkin
8.Transometropolitan

Side B:
1.The Band Played Waltzing Mathilda 2.Announcement 3.Strams Of Whiskey
4.Jesse James 5.Sea Shanty (incl. Blow Boys Blow with Elvis Costello,
Tommy Keane & Henry Benagh) 6.The Parting Glass

"And I'd shoot back great belly-crippling buckets of beer"

I'm amazed that Shane could sing this and stay in time. This would have been a long day in the studio, recording the vocals. One of my favorites, also. Lots of great lines

Shane and Spider could trade off. That would be cool.

great song, and it has my favorite Shane "scream" from any of the recorded material I have heard. So loud and frantic.

It's a good song and yes, we were still playing it live well into 1985, maybe longer. I do not recall the Costello/Keane/Benagh version but, as it does exist - or is at least listed - on a bootleg I have never listened to, I suppose it must have happened.

I am surprised as I see somebody else specially interested in that song, because it has always been my favourite among those of "Red Roses For Me".

Carlos.

Usual warning goes here about using these fora to arrange for the exchange of illicit copies of music, video, etc.
