St Patrick's Day in Dublin: recorded live in and around Dublin, Ireland on March 17 (Sonologue SL 106) (USA, 1968)

"You are there as Dublin celebrates" boasts the sleeve. It's an audio-verité documentary LP, (playable in "Stereo or HiFi") recorded throughout St Patrick's Day 1967 and featuring everything from High Mass at the Pro-Cathedral to Hurling at Croke Park. And in there somewhere is the boy Chevron and his colleagues from the O'Connell School Boys Choir, heard in brief but admittedly tuneful excerpts from "Dochas Linn Naomh Padraig", "Hail Glorious St Patrick", "O'Donnell Abu" and "The Bold Fenian Men" accompanied by the thrilling rasp of the No. 1 Irish Army Band. There we are on the back sleeve as well - "School boys singing in praise of St Patrick". Aaaaaahhhhh!

It's a hideous artefect, with all the kitsch shamrock 'n' colleens the art department of Sonologue Records (Ohio) could muster but it is, nevertheless my first appearance on record. I mention it because these days I am more relaxed about kitsch and because today, for the first time in almost 40 years, I received a copy of this album in the mail.

I've never made it to lp, but I've been on a few tapes, my first looks like we were all dressed for prom. A terrible photo, but the keyboardist who was managing the picture looked good. The rest of us looked bored. We did end up with a little airplay out of our home state as a result though.

Photo or it didn't happen.

I'll have to dig it out and figure out how to get it up on a photo here, unless you want me to send it to you and you can make it work. The only place I know I can upload to is Facebook to get photos seen, but maybe there is somewhere I need to create a free account? Any help would be appreciated.

So far I haven't made it on record, and chances are slim I ever will, but I at least made it onto the sleeve of a cd of an Austrian band called "Querschläger" (the ricochets). 15 minutes of fame.

Sadly I think he is not the only one to own a copy of the lp .
I have a copy of "Great Day For The Irish" Sonologue SB106
Different cat number but I think it is the same lp.
"Footbaal Crazy" is the last track on side one .

Can you be seen in the photo of "schoool boys singing in praise of St. Patrick" Mr Chevron .?

Not terribly well is the short answer.

To my knowledge I've not appeared on any record. But I have just recently done a voiceover for a half-hour training presentation.

"Welcome" the inexperienced voice begins "to the introduction and overview of the Web Infrastructure Suite and Web Server." The next half hour slips effortlessly by as the observer is lulled to sleep by slides with diagrams, large words, arrows from one to the other and a somber voice regurgitates the data.

A true must for those needing to come down off a speed or caffeine jag.

Well, now you know why it took 40 years to track down. Like most Irish tourist souvenirs, it was more purchased than played. Best of the genre is Maureen Potter's great 1974 album of songs and comic sketches Gaels Of Laughter
