The current Peelers hail from Montreal.
One of the members tends bar in an Irish Pub across from the Novotel just off St. Catherine St. The street is de la Montagne. He played some of their stuff as we ate breakfast during my brother's bachelor party. Great stuff.
The bartender is a huge Pogues fan. I'll hunt down the pub name & street somewhere if anyone is interested.

The Peelers recorded one album Banished Misfortune on Polydor in 1972 and split that same year. Band was: Tom Madden, Joe Palmer and Jim Younger.

Jim Younger (who played mainly concertina on the album)

There was an Australian band back in the 80's called The Radiators. Raucous, edgy 80's pub-rock. Great decadent Stones-like vibe on some tracks....

Since bought The Pellers cd "Banished Misfortune"
Even without Mr Chevron and perhaps being alittle more "folkie" than may normal cds it was well worth the money.
"The Night Before Larry Was Stretched " stands out . I have a Elvis Costtello version of the same song .
