Remembering Philip, eight years ago on this date.I have very fond memories following The Pogues all over the UK and mainland Europe plus one gig in the USA, some of the best gigs i attended were in Germany and The Netherlands, truly memorable.I was even fortunate to be allowed to travel with the band on several occasions.I can see it now,Hannover to Berlin in April 1988,no rock and roll excess on this particular trip, listening to cassettes or reading the European edition of the Guardian was the order of the day.The exceptions were Andrew and Philip.Mr.Ranken was converting a table lamp into something that i really couldn't describe, while Philip, bless him was busy with his watercolours.I returned home missing the last two German shows,so i never saw Philip's end products and as for that table lamp....who knows.God bless you Philip.I love you man.

Deirdre O'Mahony (among other things, spouse of Phil Gaston, who - among other things - wrote "Navigator") posted possibly the sweetest picture of Philip ever yesterday, taken during a photoshoot for his Captains and Kings single, on the roof of Rock On in the early 80s when they both worked there.

When I was coming back from Texas wearing a vintage POGUES 01 football jersey I had more declarations from random middle age men about their favorite band in college that it was a bit much. Like chase you to the curb declarations.

Rest in Paradise, Philip.
