The Radiators' original name was "The Radiators from Space." They were later renamed "The Radiators."
Ed Wood made a really terrible classic movie called "Plan 9 From Outer Space."
When the Radiators reformed they wanted to indicate that this was a slightly different band than what had broken up twenty years earlier, so the went back to the original "The Radiators from Space," dropped "from Space" and picked up "(Plan 9)" as both a tribute to the terrible motion picture talents of Mr. Wood, and a tip of the hat to their original name.
But I'm likely wrong.
