I am drawing up a list of things I am going to do this year: Dropkick Murphys in March http://www.dropkickmurphys.com/tour/ Kirstyfest in October (I have been a fan of Kirsty's since early 1980s) and, please dear God....Pogues in December?

Nothing has been announced for 2015.

When the December shows were a more regular thing they were typically announced in late Summer.

She was indeed. 8)

And I agree about Camille O'Sullivan. She did a great job with the band for the Christmas shows last year, and at the O2 the previous year.

Yep, you're dead right. Although anyone who has stepped into Kirsty's shoes has struggled to fill them. Everybody compares the raw live vocal of Ella, Camile O'Sullivan or Sinead O'Connor to the multi layered studio version they're used to hearing. It'll never sound as good as the original. My own live favourite though, is Camile 8)

Having spent much of the holidays reading through this forum and watching Pogues and Pogues related Youtubes including Kirsty MacColl, I was impressed with the performances of Fairytale of New York by Ella Finer.

In the context of the song I feel she is perfect for the role and she empathises wonderfully with Shane MacGowan.

Philip Chevron wrote the following on this forum when someone asked who would be singing Kirsty's part at a concert:

“.... I suppose, in recent times, it actually depends on Ella Finer's availability as much as anything. She has a fairly full life outside of her occasional work with the Pogues. We could, I suppose, find a deputy if we wanted to, but frankly, now that we have a female co-singer who is a popular, uncontroversial, indeed organic, choice among the band members themselves, we prefer to avoid offering hostages to fortune if we can. Ella has been a part of all our lives, including Kirsty's, since she was a toddler and I think we know she's also somebody Kirsty herself would almost certainly approve of in the role.”

Coming from Philip, I thought that was a great tribute.

Anyway, I just thought it would be nice if Ella had an area of the forum, she is surely at least an honourary Pogue.

I hope one day to be in the audience of one of the concerts I have been watching. Anything planned for 2015?
