Accordians were never meant to be played standing up ,mainly because of the weight.Todays new models are much lighter.I have seen THE POGUES live dvd and the guy who plays the accordian has amazing agility!I still prefer sitting down though, but i have a lifetime of playing in small, cramped pubs and clubs ,where you cannot swing a ferret....

I play the accordion as well and find it quite hard to play standing up, especially more than one number. We are doing a band at the moment and when the first songs are ready to be played at gigs I think it will be a hard time standing up a whole gig. James Fearnley seams to have a lot of stamina and energy! The way he throws the acc around in T & C Live DVD is brilliant, a great show effect!
