Correct. Amsterdam is a FRIENDLY city with a lot of friendly people. And yes, there is criminal activity, but that's almost in every city. And Amsterdam is doing very much to make it better and it works.

Amsterdam is NOT filthy. Downtown is a garbageteam working every day to pick up the containers and garbagebags etc. So the city is not filthy.

If you wanna see a filthy city you have to go to Florenze (Firenze) Italy. When I was there last year I was chocked to see in what condition this city was. The (beautiful) buildings were brown because of the dirty air.

Verona in Italy on the other hand is well kept. You don't see any dirt or filthy buildings. But, oke that's my opinion.

Bye Eveline

Once a train conductor referred to Amsterdam as a "dirt city" - basically meaning that there is a lot of criminality going on.

I liked Amsterdam, though - but I must confess I found some parts a bit filthy. Plus, I got lost walking along the ditches one night - they all look pretty much the same in the night. But some nice dutch men safely guarded me back to Centraal Station.

I think Amsterdam is well worth a visit.

Hi James,

Offcourse (?) I'm saving for a new trip from Amsterdam to Los Angeles!
I will be there in May, when you guys hopefully play in LA.
I hope Charon C and her girlfriend will come too.
Give my love to Dermot (oke, and to Kieran and Brad too, hihi)

Oh yeh, and I remember reading that message you posted about Dermot and his way of playing the mandolin. I know now what you mend by that. I think you are right, but do not tell Dermot that I said so)

Bye Eveline

Eveline,

Thanks for getting in touch. I will certainly convey you message to Dermot. He checks in to Pogues.com on occasion (and has ribbed me without mercy about something I happened to let slip in one of the forums about his mandolin playing).

Start saving.

Hy James, I hope you remember me from the gig at Molly Malone's on the 5th of january. I'm the girl from Holland. I had a really good time that evening with you guys!!! I loved it. I want to let Dermot know that I'm verry greatfull of the time he took for me. I travelled for 19 hours and it was well spent money. Will you give him this message? Perhaps he can answer me back. I would really like that.
I hope to see you again ( when I saved enough money for a new trip, hihi)
