The McGyver aspect - I'm sure you're referring to the weird pick-up that Dermot strapped to his chest to amplify the mandolin, since he'd left his gig mandolin (both mandolins in exactly the same cases) at home. Chump.

Well I, for one, felt that the duct tape just added to the charm!!!!!

And as for a CD, you definately have a guaranteed sale here. :D

It was lovely to see a bunch of people there and forgive me if I didn't speak to everyone. 'Sfunny, seemed Carmen was doing all right when I spoke to her - a bit to the leeward side, maybe, but at least she seemed to be making sense.

Yeah we wondered what the tape was all about.
Carmen was making sense, that was the funny part, she was such a fun drunk!!

Good to see you James, looking forward to another show soon!

It really was a great show. I'm so glad that I made the trip out. Got to talk for a minute to James & Dermot. Great music, truely nice guys & a touch of McGyver as well. (Moral: Never leave home without duct tape!)

Thanks for a great evening!

And a live CD would be a sure sale (hint hint!)

Territa--the show was wonderful!!!!!!!the band just keeps getting better all the time--and they have been adding new songs to the set. also, James played a new insrument last night--something like a handheld keyboard that he blew air into thru a tube --dont know what its called.I chatted with James afterwards--always a thrill--he is so nice :D A Pogues fan we met at Connolly's in New York named Richard also made it to the show last night and he really liked Cranky George too.

Back to bed for me--no energy... hangovers suck.

Carmen was in RARE form Friday. hahahahaha
I think I cried from laughing so much. Not even a quarter way through the CG set..."I'm drunk"
It just fell downhill from there as you can imagine since that was probably around 9pm.

Toooo much fun. Too much. :D

Bummed out that I missed it but I had 4 shows the next day and had to save my energy. I really hope they play again soon. I've GOT to see them!

Heh, I bought myself one for $25 earlier in the year. They make for an awesome sound when thrown through a mixer with a bunch of reverb on.

Sounds like a melodica to me - a much maligned and underrated instrument.

Oh--i have forgotten to mention that James sang "Green Grass of Home" Friday--lovely! last year , James had told us that he had not been allowed to sing it with Pogues. see below for James posting April 2005:

"And once, it was suggested I sing the Green Grass of Home, but I had barely started, at a sound check at the Hope and Anchor, that the microphone was summarily taken away from me, and I have been more or less mute ever since. With the rare exception, Wild Rover possibly among them, but I can't remember that at all".
