Totally fantastic stuff, as are most of the Pogues related books. I haven't done the audiobook yet, but it sounds like the next step. All the book reading / listening must be done with a drop of Whiskey, surely. Maybe one day, I will crack that black bottle open.......

Even if James did not fancy doing another book, I'd really love to hear what it was like for him, after Shane, with Strummer, and of course, when he himself, called it a day. He did mention somewhere (an interview? on this site?) that the book was really bracketed by the pillars of his first meeting/audtion with Shane, and the throwing of Shane out of the band, so he didn't really see the place in the narrative for the rest. That said, I imagine he's written some on the matter, and I too would love to see it. Carol Clerk's book, it should be mentioned, goes in detail through the period, interviewing everybody thoroughly on their thoughts.

Just finished reading James' amazing book, second time around. What can we do at the moment, there's bugger all happening with the band just now so reading the books are as good (sometimes) as listening to the albums. I think that James might have deliberately left an avenue for him to continue his story as the bit after Shane left is not there. Well I hope you're kicking yourself. James is a lot of fun to listen to (he even does "the voices" for all the different people in the book) and the stories are as fun as you think they'll be.

Also there was Rudy (you may see him in that recent documentary about The Clash) and Dan (of Pray For Rain fame). Good blokes all of 'em.

Hi John, Yes I keef went to the Bizare festival in Gemany along with tubby and dunc and a few others, what a weekend.... We went all over the place To watch them and had the most brilliant times. I have loads of tour t'shirts and back stage passes, you just can take those memories away, but unfortunately the amount of alcohol we consumed did... I am off to Bologna on my own and then I am taking my good wife to Thetford as a treat for HER birthday haha.. James book brings it all back and is an absolutely amazing read.

Keef,Tubby and Dunc, are you the dudes from Northampton i used to bump into at various Pogues related events,ie in Germany at the Bizarre festival in 1992 as well as the Roadmenders 3 years later?Off to Bologna or what? have fun guys.

Am i the only Brummie who thinks UB40 are a pile of shite?I was a big fan of Ian Campbell,who was and still is a folk legend,if anyone has seen his speech at the BBC radio 2 folk awards,i think even HE was amazed that his sons dub reggae outfit outsold him!Mind you i do like Brian Travers,the only Villa fan in that band!
