In truth it's only a couple of people. I guess they don't like my attitude which is fine because I don't much care for theirs.

Quite rightly so. That's why it did take place at the end of west coast tour. The show was taped on 19 Oct, when Pogues were in LA, having got there naturally, to play last gigs of the tour on 18th - 20th Oct at The Wiltern, so no flights from one coast to another, no staying in hotel at own expenses... Thus it looks like the main reason of refusal had much more to do with lack of interest or self-motivation than with wrong contacts, bad timing or innate thrift. Luckily Shane didnt fail and now fans can enjoy smashing result (while Shane and guest musicians were enjoying the process).

Why is it that site admin here seem to have a serious problem with Spider. First DZM removing (and then reinstating) Spiders solo project from the home page, and now this. THe mind boggles, to be sure, to be sure, to be sure.

Yet another in a long, long line of people who think they know more about our business than we do ourselves. Think what you want.

As you can probably imagine all of us had better things to do than pay for ourselves to fly to California to be on a tv show. To be fair James & me mulled it over for about 5 minutes but decided it would be crap without the others...and we were right!

For the record, I underwent a similarly short night of the soul on the matter. People should try to avoid being on TV unless they can figure out no way of avoiding the chore. A phone call at 4pm the day before a dimly mooted TV show in CA in which the entire conversation goes like this is not conducive to changes of plans, for example.

MAN A: (summoning up the remains of what may once have seemed like a good idea at the time, before it fatally began to lack nourishment and, therefore, momementum): So, that's a NO from you on Rollins too then, is it?

MAN B: (summoning up all dimly mooted elements and placing them neatly into a hotel wastepaper basket of the mind, while checking once again the airline itinerary for tomorrow's departure time for luscious, lovely San Antonio): Yes, that's a NO.

Maybe the "shooting" just indicates that the mic cord was well fixed? Because that's what used to be Shanes's weapon of choice for strangling himself or his colleagues with... a hint at thier musical abilities too? ;)
