Anybody ever hear Bap Kennedy's old band, Energy Orchard? Tommy played banjo on a couple tracks on their 1995 album Pain Killer:

"She's The One I Adore"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlqGPJfy-xY

and the instrumental "D.F. Dogs".

10 years ago today, R.I.P.

Somebody's erected a nice facebook page with some lovely photos, and some obscure youtube links, go have a look.

Farting around on the discogs.com website, i've come across a few other places Tom's banjo & guitar can be heard that i hadn't previously seen listed:

http://www.discogs.com/artist/352795-Tom-McManamon

"When Pigs Fly" - Joe Strummer (unreleased soundtrack that does circulate) - with James McNally/Storm
"Never Trust a Hippy" - Adrian Sherwood - banjo on "Spy Dancehall"
"Outlaw" - Alabama 3 - ?
"Slow Fuse" - Little Axe - ?
Iarla Ó Lionáird ‎– I Could Read The Sky - banjo on 4 songs, a couple with McNally/Storm

Tommy did indeed play with the Mode, I believe. And toured with them (with Marxman) sometime in the early '90s? Can't remember the details at this moment...

That's news to me and I have all their stuff. Gonna have to check...

Not a Dm fan at all, not sure about this but it could be the b side to Shake the Disease cd track called "Flexible" that Tom played on.
Seen to think it been talked about before ,maybe a fan of Dm or some one with the cd can confirm.
I really can not see where Dm music would find space for a banjo though.

Checked the 12"Image and CD Image

no musician credits on either. I gave another listen and it does sound like there is a banjo in there...

That sounds right, and recalling the song, I can see where it'd fit in. I'll have to remember to check when I'm home (have the 12" and the CD single).

Thanks for that, RR. I'm not sure that track would be in Castle Firehazard's DM collection for me to check. I'll go and have a look later...

I have a lot of Mode stuff, and cannot think what track he might have played on. I would hazzard a guess that it would be on one of the albums from Ultra onwards, maybe Exciter. Although some of their remixes and edits on B-sides could be a bit different.
