I was a bit pissed that the organizers didnt tell the audience until the show was almost over. I am sure that most would have stayed anyway as the music was great, but when the headliner is not coming, we ought to get the information! Lots of people there so I hope Paul Guinness gets his due from it.

Agreed. I'd have been a lot happier about the situation if they didn't keep Shane's no-show to themselves all night. His was the only name on the marquee.

Well, Shane felt far too unwell to bother attending and the workaday musicians in his stead tried their best. If any one has photos or video of the Church of the Holy Spook from that night, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the heads up. Should he make it, I'd much rather see Shane in this way than another Pogues set.

Friends of musician Paul "Mad Dog" McGuinness are organising a benefit gig on Sunday, July 6th at The Underworld, Camden Town. Paul suffered a serious brain injury in a traffic accident last November. Thankfully, he's making great recovery in Homerton Hospital but has a long road ahead of him. Proceeds from the event will help defray Paul's expenses as he undergoes continuing rehabilitation.

The show, on July 6th, will feature Paul's friend and bandmate Shane MacGowan of The Pogues. Other acts will be confirmed in the coming days and it promises to be a fantastic night. It's rare chance to see the legendary Shane MacGowan perform in an intimate venue and support a worthy cause.
